The Copenhagen Opera House
What to do when visiting Copenhagen in winter time? Of course you can go for a walk on the beach and have fun with that but maybe you just want to be inside somewhere? The opera on a Sunday afternoon seemed like a good solution for that. We went to see Semiramide by Rossini and we almost enjoyed the break in the hall just as much as the opera itself.
These beautiful lamps are made by the Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson who these days is called upon when ever a place needs a big installation mostly something with light. (Lamps in the newly renovated palace of crown prince Frederik and his family, the “Your Rainbow Panorama” on top of the art museum Aros in Aarhus, the solar system in the A.P. Møller school and so on…)
Check out the web site for concerts or just come past to look at the building. You can also admire the opera hall from the other side of the harbour when you walk from the Queen’s palace towards the water.
